The vessel had been damaged in a head on collision during transit on the St. Lawrence Seaway while enroute to Nanticoke, Ontario. The vessel sustained extensive damage to its bow as well as major damage to its rudder. JUMBO chose VERREAULT NAVIGATION over other shipyards as they demanded top quality work in record time, something that only VERREAULT NAVIGATION could provide. A flying squad from VERREAULT NAVIGATION worked around the clock to carry out temporary repairs that were required before the vessel was allowed to proceed and be towed from Montréal to Les Méchins. As the time line for this project is very tight VERREAULT NAVIGATION commenced fabrication of the new bow module before the vessel was even dry docked. Because of cargo delivery time constraints, it was necessary to transfer the cargo from the Stellanova to the JUMBO vessel Jumbo Vision which arrived in Les Méchins on Wednesday, November 20th. The Jumbo Vision departed as scheduled at 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 21st to complete delivery of its new cargo to the southern United States. Repairs to the Stellanova are advancing rapidly. The entire bow section has been removed as of the week of November 11th and the new bow modules are in various states of construction in the VERREAULT steel shop.
